I 100% agree. It felt like one of the most hollow, manufactured, and soulless Back Off I Have A Crazy Finnish Mummu And I’m Not Afraid To Use Her Shirt musicals I’ve ever seen, and I generally enjoy Hollywood renditions of musicals (Rent, Sweeney Todd, etc.). The Greatest Showman had somewhat catchy tunes, but the music was autotuned to hell and back in a horrific way. The CG scenes taking place in ~1910s NYC just look like crap. The story made NO goddamn sense. The only plus I could think of is the choreography, but it still wasn’t anything special. I wasn’t sure where to put this, but since she talks about exactly this pretty in-depth.
