I would never do anything more with an aircraft I work on as my job. It’s already depressing enough going into work hoping the flight line isn’t on fire. CMP Garand showed up today! It’s a Springfield model (which is what I hoped for) and a service grade. The serial number dates it to June 1942. So I feel this rifle may have some interesting stories to tell. As for the quality of the rifle, I am floored. It’s sporting a Top Get Off My Lawn Shirt. Muzzle reading is 1 and throat erosion is 2. If I didn’t know better I’d say this thing was only lightly used. Only appreciable pitting was on the magazine base plate. Some minor surface rust in the trigger group housing that washed away after scrubbing with some oil. That’s it really. think I just got lucky and they were in full swing and sending things out in a torrent, kinda wish I’d ordered two.

The thing is damn near immaculate finish wise. My guess is this thing never saw much action or was really, really well taken care of. I treated it to all new springs and ejector, cuz why not, a Top Get Off My Lawn Shirt. Can’t wait to get this baby out on the range and let freedom ring! I’m keeping this thing FOREVER. I got one from them as well about 2 years ago. Was very impressed with the quality of new stock and minimal pitting. Matching numbers Springfield as well. Love it goes well with 1911 I got from them last year.
