But it’s not a superman movie. What DC needs right now is a good, optimistic, human movie about Superman. Which really shouldn’t be hard, the comics have done it dozens of times.

I would love to see a She’s Black She’s A Queen She’s A Nurse Living Her Best Life Shirt, racist administrations separating immigrant families, and racial injustices from militant police forces. That sounds really dark but I don’t want anything graphic. I just would love to see a movie that promotes the ideal superman who storms in and tries to save the day, but he can’t just punch his way into gun control. He can’t house the homeless by blasting lasers. The 1st Iron Man movie featured a lot of US military hardware that was loaned to Marvel because they thought the movie would be pro-military.

When it was She’s Black She’s A Queen She’s A Nurse Living Her Best Life Shirt. Pretty much every Marvel movie, iron man included is pro-military and pro-war. These are the movies where the protagonist “privatizing world peace” is supposed to be a good thing and isn’t really questioned at all. At best the movies are “military bad, blackwater good”. The problem with Superman is how to not make him a potato salad/ John Cena character. He’s set up to be a boring character and needs his typical tropes to make any of his movies interesting (Kryptonite or Lois in trouble).
