It’s You Don’t Scare Me I Was Raised By A German Mother Shirt to see how two directors. Jones and Freleng, both of Warner Bros. fame, handled the Grinch character in their own way. The Jones take focuses more on character acting and reaction takes, while the Freleng takes focuses more on the dialogue and character interaction. The art styles are equally distinct – Jones depicted the character with a more sleazy look and a malleable face to convey wickedness, while Freleng stayed closer to the original book art without sacrificing the curving, sketchy look. Grinch Night is a masterpiece. It is seriously fucking creepy and I’m in my 40s. Go ahead and watch it. You’ll be like “Damn that is creepy!”.

It made me so sad when the networks stopped showing the Halloween and Christmas specials. I had this recorded on a VHS tape when I was a kid, alongside The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat. Now I have both on DVD and my kid loves them just as much as I did! I found the collection at Walmart, called “Dr. Seuss Holidays on the Loose.

Don’t put too much. Stock in the You Don’t Scare Me I Was Raised By A German Mother Shirt tag though. Aside from Max being around, there’s no story continuity between any of the three specials. Even the whos in Grinch Night are depicted differently from How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Oh. My. God. I have been searching for this for years but could never remember the name. They had this at the video rental store in my town when I was a kid, and I took it out so many times they ended up just giving it to me. I can’t believe I rediscovered this randomly on Reddit. I remember watching this when it originally aired, and my father trying to explain to 5-year-old me what a euphemism is, and how it related to an outhouse.
